How Calculations Are Made
This calculator estimates runtime based on the following:
- Propane energy content: 21,591 BTU per pound.
- Efficiency factor: 90% (to account for real-world losses).
- Formula: Runtime (hours) = (Tank Size × 21,591 × 0.9) ÷ Total BTU/hr.
- A 10% safety margin is applied to ensure you don't run out of fuel unexpectedly.
